Jimmy Wang Yu is always a delight to see, so that was great - and man, does he ever play a lot of one-armed characters. The whole idea of the "flying guillotine" was so ridiculous and awesome that it's hard not to love it, but it would have been nice to have seen it in action a little more. For a movie whose title references the weapon, there aren't too many people who are killed by it. 7 Breakfast at Tiffany's Here's one I wanted - and expected - to really enjoy, but man oh man was it a letdown. It wasn't particularly funny, and it's biggest problem was the main character herself. Not only did Holly annoy the hell out of me, but she was a money-grubbing whore. I could see that she was supposed to be "charming", and that she was supposed to have transformed at the end, but I still disliked her greatly and I don't see how she redeemed herself for any of the things she did throughout the movie. Who's to say she wouldn't just end up doing to Paul what she had done so many countless other times to other men? It's not a bad movie, and I'm sure if I didn't already have my strong feelings about superficial people I would have enjoyed it more, but unfortunately it just wasn't my bag. Great musical score from Mancini, though. 6.5
Alexis T (es) wrote: A cult movie: Deneuve and Belmondo are cast opposite what they used to be cast at the time. She is a bad girl, he is a naive nice man. Deneuve was never more beautiful than in this movie, you can see that Truffaut was in love with her. The story is much more complicated than it would seem at first sight. A master piece.
