Emerald R (fr) wrote: Four brothers is a good by the numbers action movie with just enough story and character development to keep you interested and the right amount of twists/red herrings to make it smart but never trying to be to clever. The movie follows the seemingly random killing of a sweet old woman who just happens to have fostered four of the biggest f**k up hard men you could imagine. As the brothers look into the circumstances of her death they realize her death was not random but orchestrated and covered up by gangsters and cops alike. This movie was never going to trouble the Oscar committee but its a solid 109 minutes of action/revenge movie. featured on Emerald Reprobates pod-cast episode 60

Quinn V (gb) wrote: No doubt worst film ever. You know those movies that are funny because they are so bad? Well this one wasn't even funny. Its terrible, and I don't understand how it even exists.

Lee M (it) wrote: Full of charming moments, but swinging hither and thither between mainstream entertainment and an over-cooked anti-racist tract.

Erika F (it) wrote: This is too vulgar to pass up...ha ha

Ian C (ag) wrote: Nothing extraordinary but a strong cast and Denzel Washington makes this flick about a fictional jazz band extremely watchable.

Paul D (nl) wrote: This war action would be much improved by getting rid of the terrible soundtrack playing throughout, that said the acting is weak, the plot ordinary and the less said about the fighting sequences the better.

Sgt C (au) wrote: (77%) A somewhat forgotten 80's gore classic from the same mould of the "Re-Animator". The monster effects are fantastic and really well designed, and the slight light feel to everything makes certain scenes more funny than scary. A great late-night horror flick that's well worth tracking down.

Mo B (kr) wrote: Rating: 83%Featuring a smart script and well-cast actors, Trading Places offers a valuable lesson without giving up on laughs.

Eduardo A (br) wrote: This movie is incredible! The best movie of Science Fiction !

Kim D (ca) wrote: It has been debated whether or not the makers of Final Destination ripped off this obscure eighties flick. The similarities are obvious: A) A character avoids death by horrible plane crash. B) Death never leaves the job unfinished. C) Death is a real jerk. In terms of style, the two films are quite separate creatures, though. Final Destination is much more pyrotechnical and elaborate in its violence. Sole Survivor, however, establishes and eerie atmosphere and builds suspense more elegantly. Moreover, it manages its jump scares much better than its successor. Clever editing, tightly framed compositions, and a stand out performance by Anita Skinner elevate this unjustly forgotten horror film beyond its meagre budget, and fans of the genre would do well to check it out.

Matt H (kr) wrote: After the HBO series Rome, it must be really difficult to come up with a movie about Rome that can come close to the quality of the series (in story or production). This is very reminiscent of another recent movie set during the Roman Empire, The Eagle, and like that film, it is very generic and unmemorable. When you waste both Michael Fassbender and Dominic West, you know your movie has problems. There just isn't much of a story to care about, that its main problem. It has a great cast and good director, but it just doesn't go anywhere interesting.
