A lot tamer than John Waters' earlier movies, but it was so damn good! One of his best films for sure

the only good thing in it is Walken performance, great as ever. . . Most of the time watching this movie I was thinking that it was the bad copy of Haggis' "Crash", and I think the director knew it because he tried to change the situation with a different ending

I did not enjoy these parts as much as the first one. Lastly, Godard recaps the ancient cities that the cruise ship visited earlier. Is any instant more significant than another? Does any of it have meaning or will it all result in the same outcome in the end? The second stanza is very irreverent, showcasing a gas station where nobody seems to help customers and the children are the only ones who have any common sense. There is no overarching narrative because there is not one in the real world. There are routine snippets of daily life, moments of socialization, and flashes of crime and judgment. A single ship is the scene for a thousand stories. Hand-held cameras create a jumbled cacophony of light and sound. When it is time to visit ports of call, Godard includes artwork of historical wars in the Mediterranean Sea. Filmed aboard a cruise ship, Godard splices scenes of life aboard the ocean liner with ferocious storms at sea. The first half of the film is inspired. Film Socialism is not always enjoyable - scenes include poor sound mixing so that ocean waves and weather drown out dialogue - but that is part of Godard(TM)s design. The latter half of this work drags badly. Godard could have achieved the same effect in a thirty-minute short film. If one does wish to grapple with this problem, why buy tickets to a film by a Nouvelle Vague director? The film seeks to raise an issue in order to inspire further discussion however the subject matter is a little sparse. The film must be difficult to understand because it seeks to portray a world that Godard believes is difficult to understand. Whether it is difficult to understand because of the language barrier or difficult to understand because of the subject matter is irrelevant to Jean-Luc Godard. This version of the film did not include subtitles; the premiere at Cannes included Navajo subtitles. Many spectators struggled to make sense of the film that was purposefully obfuscated. It was an odd sight to see a quarter to a third of the audience walk out of the Ryerson Theatre throughout the opening night screening of Film Socialisme at the Toronto International Film Festival

pretty good movie imo

Totally underrated. Wildly theatrical, and simply touching, even if it is a bit cliche

10. And finally, this movie is not for everyone, if you decide to watch, try not to analyse it deeply. It got a mixed response with mostly positive feedbacks, but my take on it is definitely good. As I said it was based on a speculation of some real incident, but a well made movie except not detailing everything they have shown. Whatever the girl from the movie believed in is simply a fictional account and an entertainment for us, so don't expect it to be an uplifting movie. Even a ten year old can differentiate what is real and what's not from a movie he watches in this world. In fact, that was a big one for this movie where a small role can impact on the high level. The direction was good, the director also appeared in a small role as a cop. The 'Pacific Rim' star Rinko Kikuchi was outstanding in the title role. Besides, it looks more a Japanese film than the Hollywood's. The story might be Americas, but due to the Japanese lead character, the entire film was in Japanese with English subtitle and very often some English line with the American characters. That's what you get in an urban myth, a collective tale and each slice of it is someone's creation/prediction based on the original evidence that is not understood properly. Also leaves many unanswered questions behind which is the negative side of the narration. Lots of scenes make no sense, and gives the impression of the girl is so dumb. But there's no declaration in the opening or before the end credits about whether it was a real or what actually happened in the end. Though I'm not going to reveal anything about that part as it might spoil if you have not it yet. "The end was heartbreaking, only if you understood it clearly. It's mine. Right here. "I discover treasure. That leads her to travel halfway across the world to an unfamiliar territory and what follows is her desperate drive to achieve the undertaking. Her life is not so good, with having no friends or a boyfriend, pressure from her mother and at work, she decides to chase an unexpected dream after learning about the treasure from the tape she finds in a seaside. Kumiko is an innocent and a solitude woman in the twilight of her 20s. The main character is just like the one from 'Citizen Dog' or 'Amelie'. It was a beautiful adventure-drama. Still a very much predictable, but for an entertainment purpose, it did decently. So after the watch I did a little research on the original and I thought this film looked much better than that, especially for the movie it supplied a fine story material. I have seen many films of different versions of the same events or the persons, but I never heard of this one before. An urban legend surround her visit to Minnesota, United States, back in the 2001. This movie character was inspired by a real young woman from Japan, but not the real event. That's why the false information spreads like a virus on the social media. Sometime we feel that should have been real, because of the sunning depth that even a real story can't match. The rumours always adds lots interesting stuffs than the actual news. An innocent girl's desperate adventure
