(ru) wrote: "Smells like the end of days"SO bad that it's good. Not on the same level of badness=goodness as Troll 2 though. Wasn't laugh out funny like Troll 2. Would have scored higher if it was. Some of the lines from the actors seemed off/cheesy and some of the actors sound completely different than others (bad sound editing?)...at first, I thought it was voice over on some of the actors. Hot Euro babes. There's a few good decapitation scenes. For a low budget movie, this one did fairly well. Worth a watch if you're bored and into zombie flicks.

Of course, it probably helped that he was trained by the real Frank Dux (the man he was portraying in the film) for a few months before filming. Great fight choreography and a surprise role for a still young Forest Whitaker. Classic lines as well. This film has a soft spot for many action fans and I am definitely in that group.

(mx) wrote: Visually amazing, but the characters are so unlikable and the majority of the plot so standard, it makes it a bit of a slog to get through. These effects and disaster scenes deserve a better movie to be in.
(nl) wrote: Anomalisa's writing is about as complex and deep as its stellar animation. Charlie Kaufman continues to one-up himself with every film he makes. He proves once more that he's more than capable of directing and writing. I can't even begin to fathom how they managed to blend the animation, writing, and direction into one gorgeously crafted maze of love and life and humanity. It might sound like pure lunacy but Anomalisa is the most human film of the year.
