Paul J (gb) wrote: A sad affair. The filmmakers thought it would be a good idea to bring together a bunch of celebrities - like a variety show - but the problem is they didn't have much of a story. Setting it during biblical times with Dudley Moore's character playing someone like Moses, may have sounded like a half-decent pitch but unfortunately they forgot to hire comedic writers. It's as if they just ended up relying on the comedy stars to "be funny". Nope. Didn't work. There isn't a single laugh in this terribly boring mess. Richard Pryor is a mild highlight. But considering three minutes of his wacky expressions are the only memorable thing, I think it's safe to say, one can skip this movie. Weirdest bit? John Ritter as the devil in a scene that couldn't be more mundane.
Wayne Z (nl) wrote: Its like one of those nature films that Disney used to make. The whole thing is narrated in that style. The story concerns a guy known as "Trapper", he lives in the wilderness and he is friends with many of the animals out there. A series of events lead to him being chased across the winter wilderness by hunters on a charge of murder. The first half of the film is well paced and humourous the second half is Trapper being chased, which tends to drag. I did however find myself routing for Trapper in hope of escape in his 'challenge to be free'. This film also features a cool theme song with the lyrics "A legend was he, he had a challenge to be free!" An enjoyable 90 minutes, probably best watched on a lazy sunday.

Bob V (it) wrote: One of the great melodramas of all time, "Letter" is the rather heart-wrenching tale of a young woman's love for a callous philanderer. Though they only actually meet a handful of times, he transforms & taints her life, without giving her much more than a fleeting thought.Though it plays on a basic level as a straight-up melodrama (but please try to shed the pejorative connotation of the word, the genre has produced many great classics before the nineties made it, and the term itself, something of an insult), deeper down it works as an indictment of the inequalities between men and women at the time. Even though we sympathize (as is intended) with the protagonist's romantic delusions, and can't help but hope that the man she loves will see what's right in front of him, we are continually rebuffed along with our pathetic heroine.
