So-So Average Haunted House Thriller, Which Has The Same Basic Subplot. Someone's Been Murdered And The Spirit Is Attempting To Leave A Message For The Living. This Is Probably One Of The Worst Films (Or Even The Worst), In Which The Pang Brothers Have Directed. The Plot Is Overused, The Performances Wooden, Especially Kristen Stewart's. I Did Find It Somewhat Enjoyable Though And Did Like It. But Going By The Fact That The Performances Seem Wooden, Stewart Displays No Emotion, The Overused Plot, The Bad Scripting And That It Builds No Tension Or Atmosphere.
(ca) wrote: P.U is that a Horrible Movie I smell completely destroying my favorite female character from my favorite comic book hero franchises? It sure the hell is! First of all, this Catwoman is completely unrelated to the comic character Selina Kyle except in costume and her alter ego name, second, this movie is absolutely awful and deserves the top place on my list of being the worst comic book movie ever made. The chemistry between the two love interests(Berry and Benjamin Bratt ) is about as intimate as a one night stand it's so non-existent that you can't believe for a second that these are two romantically involved characters. And third the movie is just boring at least with Batman and Robin it was entertainingly bad, this just gives me no satisfaction what so ever. The only satisfaction I get is looking at Halle Berry and that gets old after the first ten minutes we see her in the costume. The costumes, sets and the overall look of the movie are great, but what good is that when the characters and story are severely inadequate? The answer is that it isn't good at all. 1/5 stars
(ag) wrote: Though Charlotte Rampling is brilliant, as usual, I felt this movie is somehow incomplete. What's missing?
(mx) wrote: For some reason, there was something off. Maybe the story structure felt too much like a Usual Suspects rip off or maybe the characters weren't believable. The style was interesting and definitely fit the genre. Just something was not working.
(ca) wrote: In my opinion it's not as bad as everyone thinks it is, pretty fun and exciting and had me on the edge of my seat at the end.
(nl) wrote: well the story is actually not bad but the acting is extremely poor and special effects are old school
(de) wrote: Back on the big screen, with the big man at the helm and in front of the camera, this feels a little dated - but must have been ground-breaking at the time. Using little footage, but using judicious editing and stock film, and then himself as a chorus / narrator / protagonist, this film comes over as (p)art documentary / (p)art essay, dealing as it does with creativity, lies and truths and everything in between. Highly influential, and setting the tone for some of the left field documentaries of later years, this is fun.
(ru) wrote: Without exaggerating, this could quite possibly be the best movie I have ever seen. Joshua, a 16 year old boy abandoned by his mother and left homeless, must struggle to survive. His talent for art is his saving grace. Without going overboard into "wholesome" territory, The Forger tackles some heavy themes such as integrity and how to treat women. This is one of those films that can be enjoyed by adults, yet could also be shown to a youth group. It's that good. And yes, Josh Hutcherson is amazing. He shows off his acting chops in his portrayal of a confused teenage boy. Oh, and one funny thing...I watched the whole movie without realizing Lauren Bacall was in it (head smack)! I should have known by her voice. Definitely put The Forger as #1 in your Netflix queue.
