Jay D (nl) wrote: This Vishal Bhardwaj film is not every one's cup of tea. It has pretty good satirical story involving some slapstick yet genuinely hilarious moments. Only one person takes this film to entirely different level & that is Pankaj Kapur. His performance as drunk Mandola offers some absurdly comic scenes. Imran Khan & Anushka Sharma are just about ok while Arya Babbar as dumb politician's son is treat to watch. Background score, believable production designs & some eccentric characters makes this watchable while sloppy screenplay plays the spoilsport. Not like Bhardwaj's earlier masterpieces (Omkara, Maqbool & Kaminey) but surely an effort that can not be missed. Oh..... yeah watch out for that pink buffalo.

Sean C (mx) wrote: This is a real oddity. It's an animate flick with no discernible audience. The pacing is too slow for kids and there's little here to interest adults either. There's some good ideas and for what looks to be a meagre budget the animation isn't too bad. Director Jeff Lew obviously grew up loving action films of the Nineties with their slow-mo, double-gun wielding, flying through the air nonsense and built a so-so plot around it. The humour doesn't work, the character's faces give little away and there's pacing issues too. However I quite liked the look so I'd go out on a limb here and say that with a larger budget Mr. Lew is capable of giving us the dazzle he so desperately attempted to give us here despite his money limitations.

Chris M (us) wrote: Decent, original take on the vampire genre, in a future world where society os almost wholly vampiric and humans are farmed for our blood. Except we're not immortal like vampires, so the supply is running out. This premise, plus Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill make this a really interesting film, with loads of proper splattery gore and some nice stylish touches (how are vampire cars modified?). It's nothing too memorable, but waaay better than Twiglet as an exploration of the potential of vampire stories...

Raymond E (us) wrote: AWESOME!!! I had REALLY low expectations. This is kinda like Jaws... but in outer space. REALLY good narrative. Actors and writing are good too. Kudos to the visuals (both Cinematography and Visual Effects). This movie works. It is very organic in an artificial way.

Paul J (ca) wrote: Dreyer's final film comes across contrived and stagey. Until you realize that that's the point. What a career this Danish filmmaker has had. From Vampyr to Gertrud, it's clear that he's continuously experimenting and pushing his boundaries. Gertrud is unlike anything else in 64'. Like Kubrick, Dreyer takes his time and tries to say something original and piercing. In Gertrud he succeeds.

Kimberly J (br) wrote: There are moments in this film that are really fascinating. The sequence in which the camera focuses on Pepe's desperate and methodic steps as he walks in his self created cage is a rare moment in film were a single shot tells so much by doing seemingly a lot and very little at the same time. It may be campy in dialogue, but it seems to work... I was certainly entertained.

Brett E (nl) wrote: Something was definitely missing from this movie, but it wasn't as awful as everybody said it was. It's stupid and harmless, but I have to admit something was a lot of fun about it and it got my mind off things for an hour and a half. Jessica Alba was the absolute WORST actor in this movie. She made no choices and I'm not sure what she was thinking. Truly awful. BUT the other three were well-cast and tried to make the best out of the script. I will see the sequel because I didn't mind this movie.
