(us) wrote: Dororo was a bit overly long and slightly tedious but I understand it had to pack half of an entire manga series into one film. That manga was written by the illustrious Osamu Tezuka. The story itself was very interesting and possibly worth the price of admission. It's just the downside was the wooden or bad acting, lack of chemistry between the actors and very dated/ugly CGI.You almost can't go wrong with a guy that has a demon killing sword for an arm though.

(br) wrote: An awful lot of fun, "Zatoichi" is. It has multiple storylines: two geishas who are not what they seem to be, a blind masseur who could be more, a samurai who kills to make money to support his dying wife...and it's rife with rhythm and music. Seriously, the music in this movie is fantastic, right down to a (okay, prepare yourself) musical number a la "Stomp" at the end. Funny, gory (lots of blood sprays, not for the faint of heart, although they are patently fake), and a good time will be had by all. It's an obvious Tarantino influence, and is much better than "Kill Bill, Vol 1." If this is playing in your city, make time to see it.

(it) wrote: The story arch has been done to death, but it is handled perfectly in Soderbergh's polished direction. This is an acting piece, and the entire cast is game. Also, special mention should go to the makeup and hair-styling team. They really went above and beyond.
(ru) wrote: Deep beneath the ocean, a silver mining crew discovers a sunken Soviet ship whose crew died under mysterious circumstances. A review of their ship's data reveals that the Soviets were working on a deadly new biological weapon, and one that has begun to infect everyone on board! Of the many films to follow in ALIEN's footprint, LEVIATHAN comes closest to replicating the same level of fear and paranoia... At least in the first act. The film features an impressive cast led by Peter Weller and Richard Crenna, and also includes incredible production designs for both the interior and exterior sets of the underwater mining facility. It is most unfortunate that things quickly begin to fall apart in the over-indulgent ending, where the lackluster creature effects and laughable surprises drag an otherwise enjoyable film back into the depths. Regardless, LEVIATHAN comes as a welcomed addition to other Science Fiction horrors like THE THING, DEEPSTAR SIX, and the ALIEN series.
(br) wrote: This is just one of those cult movies where you either love it or hate it- there is no inbetween. Am I mentally insane if I can relate to this movie? Everything that Napoleon says and does makes me laugh hysterically.
(it) wrote: Pretty Fierce Drama With An Isolated Location Adding To An Epic Fear Factor Here. Some Good Performances & Well Matched DP On The Picturesque Surrounds Make This One An Underated Horror-Thriller Gem.
(br) wrote: I got a strange feeling of relief out of Ezra Miller being the worst part of this. This is a hard thing to make a film about - they did it as well as they could. Michael Angarano was very good.
