Steve W (de) wrote: Retroactively released after the success of A Separation and The Past, About Elly is a simple drama that occurs over one weekend that spirals out of control. A school teacher named Elly is invited to a getaway near a beach, but things quickly escalate when she disappears. Then more secrets and lies get uncovered, and what follows is a tense drama with solid performances. It doesn't have the bite of Farhadi's later movies, but its still a decent watch for a minimalist drama with lots of insight into that culture.

Alex G (kr) wrote: If you like David Boreanz than you should love this. It is a funny good-bad romance comedy.

Jenny B (au) wrote: Gorgeous looking, gently humorous and deeply moving gem of a film.

Nick D (au) wrote: An inspired performance by Russell Crowe, and a great depiction of Jim Braddock

Sybylla Y (es) wrote: This movie makes all other coming of age movies look corny and dumb. It is seriously amazing and worth watching over and over again.

Stephen C (gb) wrote: an interesting french film that looks at the family dynamic and how a few changes can alter the family dramaticly. has a ton of great scenes and jokes as well as shockers.

Joseph B (mx) wrote: First off, the original novel's author co-wrote the screenplay, so his vision was not ripped to shreds. This steaming heap is mean-spirited, heartless, and calculating, filled to the brim with unfunny humor, ethnic stereotypes, adult jokes, swearing, and a lack of STORY. Lastly, Jason Alexander says the line, "Quick, loosen his pants." Prepubescent Elijah Wood's pants. In short: for Christ's sake, this shit is meant for children!

JD (gb) wrote: Nicholas Meyer writes and directs the movie Time After Time an Action/Drama/Science-Fiction movie! The movie stars Malcolm McDowell, David Warner and Mary Steenburgen, all of who play terrific roles in the movie. When you watch this movie I gotta say you can't help but love it because this movie is just so different and so clever. I know a few movies nowadays have took some ideas from this movie, but this movie itself is very original and very fresh. I think the intelligent script work by Nicholas Meyer really made this movie great, the top notch direction was good as well but the writing was really clever and also at times very witty. Malcolm McDowell plays a strong lead character in this movie, who's very likable and really funny to watch in some scenes. David Warner who plays Jack The Ripper in this movie who's very twisted and creepy looking, so I gotta say David Warner played a great Jack The Ripper. Now as for Mary Steenburgen who plays's Amy Robbins, who works at bank and gets involved with Malcolm McDowell's character Herbert. I didn't think Mary Steenburgen was a better actor than Malcolm McDowell or David Warner in this movie, but she did hold her own which was good and she also gives us some good laughs which is also good. So I pretty much loved this movie, I thought it was amazing. I loved the Science-Fiction in it, I even liked the Romance and I really liked the Adventure of the whole story because that's what gets you into this movie. I know a lot of people haven't seen this, so I suggest you give this movie a watch because it's really fun and really clever.

Brendan H (kr) wrote: Wow. That's all I can say to this. I always try to go in not really caring about how "iconic" or "classic" something is (because usually those opinions are hyperinflated exaggeration), but this is one movie that actually deserves all the hype that surrounds it.

Tom K (fr) wrote: I remember seeing this one on the shelf at a video store when I was a kid, but I never got around to watching it until now. With a decent cast and premise, this one is well put together, however it's a horrible concept. I love absurd b-movies, but I found it nearly impossible to suspend my disbelief to make the film work--frogs inciting a rebellion of the swamp animals. All it would have needed is a couple lines of dialogue about some telepathic powers the frogs had and I could have bought the death scenes and the complete story! Too bad the great Sam Elliot has this one on his resume!
