The enemy aliens in this one were somewhat interesting with them trying to conquer earth as a new home, because their own homeworlds are being drawn into a black hole. The best parts of this movie were the super-cool INTERPOL agent and MechaGodzilla's all-out attack with ALL his weapons on Godzilla and King Caesar was AWESOME!!!

Ben R (au) wrote: As usual, due to the horribly timed screenings for class and my general fatigue in the weeks leading up to finals, I briefly fell asleep, missing maybe the first 20 minutes or so of the movie. When I woke up, I tuned in, and it seemed like missing the beginning didn't matter as much as it has in the past; it was mostly setup, I think, explaining the dynamics between characters like Isak and Marianne.I really enjoyed this movie, and I think it's either my second or third favorite by Bergman. It's genuinely touching, and I love that there's actually a happy ending for once. I was really invested in Isak, and I really loved Sara, both because of her innate charm and the fact that Bibi Andersson was playing her. I really liked the dynamic with the group, for some reason, and I was actually touched when Sara, Anders, and Viktor sang for Isak at the end. I felt so happy for Isak, and I was so glad he got to make peace with his lot in life. There were less fantastical elements than usual in this film, which I also liked, since I've always preferred the Bergman movies that just have a touch of fantasy or mystery, not a whole plot based around disorientation. In this case, the 'fantasy' was the dreams Isak had, but none of them deeply confused me, really. I understood, for the most part, what was going on.By the time the movie was over, I was surprisingly moved by it, and it left me completely satisfied, something I haven't gotten from every Bergman movie.
