Violence at Noon

Hakuchu no Torima" is the portrayal of a violent rapist as seen through the recollections of his wife and one of his victims. As the film starts, Eisuke (Kei Sato) encounters Shino (Saeda Kawaguchi), who works as a maid in a house. She is a former coworker from a failed collective farm, whose life he once saved -- only to rape her. Soon, Eisuke's criminal pattern of rapes and murders emerges as he goes on assaulting women (Shino being the witness of one of them, as Eisuke tries to violate her employer). When cooperating with the police on making a description of the rapist, Shino withholds her crucial knowledge of his identity. She prefers writing letters to Eisuke's dutiful wife, Matsuko, a schoolteacher (Akiko Koyama -- Mrs Oshima), in order to expose his true nature and perhaps induce her into turning Eisuke over to the police.

MF J (us) wrote: A beautiful little film about a young boy who decided to built a rocket to earn the prize and allow his family to buy land with the money. It's masterfully shot. greatly acted and very nicely written.

Alex S (gb) wrote: Pretty sure the whole point of the movie was to show the audience that we cannot always trust the main character ... and I like that.

Kristin R (ru) wrote: A great look at the music of that era, with fantastic performances from all the cast. However, at the end, I was left wondering what the actual point of the movie had been. There was no story as such, it was almost like a movie of the day in the life of someone. Could have been so much better.

Cordarro M (de) wrote: A ridiculous movie with ridiculous plot and ridiculous characters. Turn your brain off, get some friends, and have the time of your life.

Ashley H (au) wrote: Wildcats may not score many points for originality, but this comedy is still tremendously entertaining. Plenty of memorably funny moments, some great one-liners and excellent performances by the entire cast, with Goldie Hawn doing a stand-out job and Nipsey Russell making the most of his relatively small role as the beleaguered high school principal who desperately wants gridiron glory for his school's team. Veteran director Michael Ritchie definitely knows how to perk up a formula story and make it seem lively and new again, even if we do see the feel-good finale coming a mile away.

Dave M (ru) wrote: Younger folks probably wouldn't get the laughs from this movie that I do. An absolutely great example of good clean FUNNY, FUN.

Robbie V (es) wrote: The modern era of comedy kick started right here.

Bill B (es) wrote: This one is the epitome of the phrase 'does what it says on the tin'; you know exactly what you're getting into from the word go. Some of the barely there cameos could've honestly been excised altogether without really missing out on anything, but overall it was a fun little watch and will probably be one of those movies I find myself getting fished into on cable, just because it's a fun ride..Plus it's amusing to see all these guys try to out-quirk one another for an entire film, so give that a look to see who's the corniest, as they all have their silly moments.Give it a rental.

Andreia C (us) wrote: Entertainig when you have nothing to do, but no big deal. Same old story revolving around friends who reunite and go on a crazy adventureI really don't like Seth Green acting, it's lacking.
