Han Kyung Bae (Sol Kyung Gu) is a successful news anchor with a beautiful wife (Kim Nam Joo) and a nine-year-old son, but his quiet life comes crashing down when his son gets kidnapped. In the next 44 days, they continuously receive calls from the kidnapper in his chillingly cold and emotionless voice with instructions and requests for ransom. The police are determined to find the kidnapper, but he effortlessly eludes capture; not only is he a step ahead at every turn, he seems to enjoy toying with the police in this cat-and-mouse chase. (es) wrote: kinda funny... young women elfs flashing Willie. sex with two women but no nudity shown. It is about him ,mom & marcus opening a safe inside Chicago charity for 100 million dollars . They only have 3 minutes to open before they get caught.. WIllie becomes free & clears his record of criminal behavior because he told the police about her mom.. He is free. He works at a hospital.

As is though, Lady in the Water is an all right movie that could've been better with a rewrite. The acting is actually pretty good, especially Paul Giamatti. The first 30 or 40 minutes of the film is pretty decent which really would've work as a short movie, but it gets a bit more and more silly after that. The script is all right, but could've been better even though it does metaphors for criticism which really got me annoyed as it ponder in that for that character who's a critic. The design of the creature is pretty cool and the effect is really nice. It's pretentious, and the twist is predictable, although I'll give it credit to Shylamian to make it small and not big like his other films, except for After Earth which didn't had any, although this is the better movie. I was interested in it, and there are some funny moments, both intentional and unintentional. I do see the effort that Shylamian made in this and with a story like this, it can create a good movie out of it, but the execution of it is mediocre which I'm gonna guess that this the last movie that M. Night Shylamian put effort into, until The Visit that is.
