I see you here everyday.Guy (Glen Hansard): During the daytime people would want to hear songs that they know, just songs that they recognize. I play these song at night or I wouldn't make any money. People wouldn't listen.Girl (Markta Irglov): I listen. It's one of those unassuming, flicks that you see on telly; but since you have no time to watch it at the present, you figured you'd record it for now and watch it later just in case it turns out to be good (anyone else like that or is it just me?). Anyway, so as it turns out, this film was quite brilliant and has an epically awesome soundtrack. The story is fairly straightforward and the cast, albeit seemingly a bit green in the acting biz, weren't half bad either. I especially loved the conclusion of the story, the two main protagonists never did anything uncharacteristic just to advance the plot and that for me kept the integrity of the film and made it more believable. This would be a perfect example why some indie flicks are much better than the Million-dollar grossing, mainstream popcorn flicks; this film has substance and it has soul.

(br) wrote: The first Slumber Party Massacre was a great addition to the line-up of 1980s slashers. Not only was it fun and gory, it was also very feminist. The sequel drops all undertones and just goes for sheer insanity. The plot makes almost no sense and the ending was pretty bad, but hey, who cares about that stuff? One girl's face turns into a zit and pops, a wild frozen chicken attacks another girl, and best of all, a leather clad rockabilly wielding a sweet guitar with a DRILL BIT ATTACHED begins dispatching them. For once in a slasher film, the kills aren't the main attraction. It's Atanas Ilitch's crazy performance as the Driller Killer. He sings, dances, and just has a blast with the role. Not only that, but since he's supernatural, he can teleport! I can't say enough good things about this movie, even though it drags in some places. If you enjoy insanity on film and can wait awhile until the killings start, you'll really get a kick out of this. Oh, and stay after the credits and you'll see that if you copy anything from Slumber Party Massacre II, you will be subjected to "civil and criminal prosecution as well as a midnight visit from the Driller-Killer".

(gb) wrote: This, at least to me, is one of the more fascinating B movie disasters out there. Island of Terror (aka Night of the Silicates, aka The Creepers) is about a scientist who accidentally creates a set of creatures whose sole purpose is to absorb human bones, leaving many folks and animals in a small island village a bit squishy. Even the presence of Peter Cushing can't save this one. The monsters themselves are pretty humorous looking, but I find the movie fascinating because of how mechanical the script is. The characters carry out their assignments in a very mechanical way on a step by step basis. It's difficult to explain, but I think if you've seen the movie, you might understand what I mean. That doesn't help it much either. It's a stinker, but it's at least worth a watch.
