It has all the ingredients to be a totally boring action movie, but it has stuff coming right out of left field to keep you awake. It also not only is a ripoff of The Terminator, but also many other action movies at the time. Not only do you get a human cyborg, but you also get a redneckathon with lots of arm wrestling, tow trucking and 18 wheeling hijinks. Don't get me wrong though. It's definitely not a good movie, but it has plenty of WTF moments, craziness and unintentional comedy to keep you entertained. It also has John Saxon in it.

It beat out "The Crowd" for the first Academy Award . . . but "The Crowd" is a much better picture, and truly deserved the honor. There are visually stunning moments and shots, and the use of light and shadow to tell a story reaches its apex here. If taken as a cautionary morality tale it is quite powerful - however, it is difficult to feel any empathy towards "The Man" due to his blind stupidity and homicidal tendencies . . . and I can't really confer that it is "wonderfully romantic".

Carlos M (ru) wrote: Irritating to the point of almost unwatchable, with nothing remotely funny about following three unbearable retards amid stupid gags and so many homophobic/racist/sexist remarks - and Charlie Day is an awful actor who thinks that yelling in a high pitch makes him funny (it doesn't).
