We Are What We Are

A middle-aged man dies in the street, leaving his widow and three children destitute. The devastated family is confronted not only with his loss but with a terrible challenge - how to survive. For they are cannibals. They have always existed on a diet of human flesh consumed in bloody ritual ceremonies... and the victims have always been provided by the father. Now that he is gone, who will hunt? Who will lead them? How will they sate their horrific hunger? The task falls to the eldest son, Alfredo, a teenage misfit who seems far from ready to accept the challenge... But without human meat the family will die.

An epic rags to riches story of an illiterate village dweller who goes on to becomes the owner of one of the largest companies in India... Abshishek delivers arguably his best performance in this movie. His power packed performance simply carries the movie through all the way with a lot of emotion and the story flows very smoothly, the background and songs in this movie as one of AR Rahman's best. The lyrics by Gulzar fit the scenes perfectly and are all situation based my personal favorite is "Jaage hai der tak" which you get to hear many times through out the movie but not in its entirety. Its only available on the CD. The Dialogues are also very catchy and memorable. An excellently made movie and one of my personal favorite hindi movies in the past 10 years. A must watch for everyone who loves Hindi movies.

Jeff B (kr) wrote: I was hesitant to watch this one, in fact, it's one of the actress nominations I completely forgot about, or at least have a hard tim remembering. Well, now having watched it I think it was a very nice nomination and a really fun movie. Judi Dench plays Mrs. Henderson, a recently widowed rich woman who decides to buy a theatre, pretty much just to have some fun. She hires Bob Hoskins to run it, but after it does poorly, Judi comes up with the idea to have everyone nude. Of course, for the 1930s, that's risky. This was a very funny movie and Dench was pretty hilarious, it seemed like every time she spoke she had something witty to say, I especially loved the scenes with her and Christopher Guest. A great movie.
