(br) wrote: John Ford's Young Mr. Lincoln is the story about the young kentucky boy who's after read many books about law and becomes a lawyer in Springfield, Illinois and moves even further to become the president of the United States of America. This movie takes place before he was president. But from the day he find some book about law in back of a wagon and when he moves to Springfield Illinois where he become a lawyer, but film is mainly focusing on his breakthrough case where we see him from his best sides, but his not that honest and great. It's a murder case where two brother is charged for murdering a man. Most of the people in the village want them hanged at once but Lincoln steps in front of the angry mob and demand a fair trial.Young Mr. Lincoln is a good and objective biographic about one of the greatest presidents of the United States. Henry Fonda doing a great job in portraying Lincoln, He actually looks like Lincoln, thanks to a good make-up team. Plus Fonda's own honest man persona that we are so familiar with, makes it one of the greatest performances of a real hero. Thumbs up.

I can't deal with these films choking on pathos where characters don't communicate with each other. Also, that whole "poor people shouldn't marry rich" turns my stomach. People who love Stanwyck as a ball of fire should avoid this melodramatic claptrap.
