(gb) wrote: Well done documentary from one of my favourite directors, Werner Herzog. Excellent subject matter. Downright fascinating. The Chauvet Cave is simply one of the greatest historical finds of human civilization. The repeated footage and extended shots are emphasized to create a mood and feel.I questioned the selection of modern music at times. Most of the time it worked, other times it felt like a bad choice. Perhaps some classical music to stir the human spirit would have portrayed the subject matter more appropriately.Much of the additional unrelated footage could have been edited out. It may have been better as a concise 60 minute film rather than a drawn out 92 minute film. This discovery deserves a genius like Herzog to preserve this creation on film. There really is no need for anyone else to cover this subject since it was produced so well this first time.

Josh Brolin plays a guy who gets "lucky" when he finds a case with a lot of cash. Javier Bardem plays the evil mass murderer who no one can stop or even understand. I think the Coen Brothers wanted to show the innocence of the Southwest and how its unprepared for such a danger. Wonderful film.

(br) wrote: I rewatched "A fish called Wanda" quite recently and it was good but not as good as i remembered it. Yesterday i finally saw Fierce Creatures for the first time and with the same cast as "Wanda" it could probably be a nice comedy i thought. The story in this flick is not quite as good but decent enough. But i must say that i actually found this movie to be much funnier and John Cleese shows his best side here. I liked him alot in Fawlty Towers and its almost to watch Basil again with the same type of humor / character in a way. There are more goofy scenes in this flick i would say overall. The rest of the cast did not live up to the same level as John Cleese but still its an entertaining comedy in the end.

(kr) wrote: Terrible animation and amazingly unfunny, "Norm of the North" is a children's animated movie that is good for nobody.
