Whatever Works

Whatever Works

Whatever Works explores the relationship between a crotchety misanthrope, Boris and a naïve, impressionable young runaway from the south, Melody. When Melody's uptight parents arrive in New York to rescue her, they are quickly drawn into wildly unexpected romantic entanglements. Everyone discovers that finding love is just a combination of lucky chance and appreciating the value of "whatever works."

A middle-aged, misanthropic divorce surprisingly enters into a fulfilling Pygmalion type relationship with a much younger, unsophisticated Southern girl. . You can read more in Google, Youtube, Wiki

Whatever Works torrent reviews

Matty S (au) wrote: Part documentary and part guided narrative documentary - this movie explores both the curiosity of youth and the cultural uniqueness that is New Orleans after hours. Slowly paced and almost poetic visually, it is an interesting experimental film that really defies any genre.

Max D (fr) wrote: This movie got me very exited, i am a bit of a gamer, and played board games a lot in my youth. but its target market is the gamers who also like a bit of fantasy roleplay where they want to be able to believe they are heroes. But in the bid to be cool they failed to understand this obvious detail. They make all the gamers and LARP players steriotypes and the only one who can save them is the guy with no job, no dreams, plays in a band, and thinks himself too cool for nerd games. Litterally you make a movie about a nerdy (for lack of a better term) event and your star is the disinterested steriotypical cool guy. (ohh yea he plays in a band)You say he used to play D&D in the movie. but no part of the movie actually shows he had any interest in it save for a line which is delivered in a half smirk and he goes back to complaining about not wanting to adventurethis is a movie about people who want to be heroes and the story revolves around the 1 guy who doesnt give a shit. While the LARP players (psst also the target market who would want to watch this movie) run away like cowards at every single thing. This movie was something i was looking foreward to so much when i saw the trailers and all i could feel when i watched it was insulted. It had some funny things in it but it didn't understand what it wanted to be so it comes of half baked and without purpose. It dropped everyone into the middle and took time away from explaining it, to a romance which is also a little messed up. (you dont really role play, i also dont really role play. I'm only doing this because of .......) yea both of them are not there because they like it, but because they have someone they are close to who made them involved. LARP and all role play is about feeling a part of an epic story, this is a messed up story with a character arc that is in no way related to the LARP event. Could have made it into an accidental summoning which forces the D&D players to buck up an join together to make their wish fulfillment come true after much pain and embarrassment (it was okay with some jokes, like the player cheaters, overly in-character people and such) but instead its focused on characters who DON'T WANT TO BE THERE. I know you need fresh eyes to help introduce and explain things to the movie goers but, pick a new player, a visiting friend who is curious and cares, a long time gamer who is challenged to an actual LARP event because he trolls the game sites, a parent trying to understand the concept. Any of these could give decent development without alienating the target audience.

Dan D (us) wrote: Although it lacks the in-depth insight and detail of similar thrillers, The Killing Room is nevertheless an enjoyable effort from Jonathan Liebesman that also offers some good performances to go with its psychological premise.

Andrew N (mx) wrote: Completely unwatchable. They try to come up with some lame corporate conspiracy bullshit, and it ends up just being boring beyond all hope. They promised a zombie movie and all we got was talking for an hour and a half.

Yeppers y (nl) wrote: AMAZING! I recommend it!

Adam R (ag) wrote: This movie has aged terribly. I remembered seeing some of it when I was a lot younger and thought I would try to relive my childhood. I can't recall how much I enjoyed it back then, if it all, but this time around was poor torture. (First and only full viewing - 5/12/2010)

EllenRebekah A (kr) wrote: Oh, does Dear Tennant know how to do madness. Shakespeare is certainly easier to get into in action, you get context clues as my third grader says. Still hard for me to understand, but Tennant and all the rest put on a great performance. I was prepared to watch in two parts but having started earlier enough, and having interest enough, I watched the near three hours in one sitting.

Enrique G (ag) wrote: The ending just ruined my week. I've never hated a movie so much in my entire life

EQ R (es) wrote: The film that defines "wasted talent", with A-Lister's such as DeNiro & Pacino this should have been a great cop thriller. What was put on film was no more than a mediocre "made-for-TV" quality film. I give the film credit only for being able to group together such a talented cast who bring only "decent" performances to the table. Recommended if you are used to basic cable cop thrillers with a predictable story-line with a twist that's given away before the opening credits are finished. D

Tatsuhito K (kr) wrote: Utterly flimsy, fluffy, and so damn generic. It is an ultimate white people movie in which 4 attractive white people try to deal with their personal issues, and finding love again through the most unbelievably contrived plot. Nancy Meyers has done some great work in the past as a writer, but when it comes to directing her own films, she's not exactly a good one. The cast is damn likable, it has above-average production values, and there are some really funny moments. But in the end, nothing in The Holiday stays with you and it's a damn shame.

Mad M (ca) wrote: A rare miss for Van Sant. It's different, but unengaging. The dialogue is shakespeare-like. The story is aimless. I could only make it halfway through.
