The expendable plot merely provides opportunities for duping and being-duped, it's the Character of the two principals that matters. It's rare to see such an unsentimental, cynical and predatory view of life in a Hollywood comedy, but the film is made by those who know the saps from the shills and laughs can be had at the expense of both.

Everyone is perfect in the film and the comedy bits are all gold. This is a comedy gem well worth revisiting!- It was fun watching this movie again, I really enjoyed it. Nice for a change watching a well-done PG comedy with clever comedic bits in the screenplay, that didn't just rely on obscene & shock tactics. Give it a try if it's been a while!

One of the teens is an expert on the film, another is the daughter of a famous Scream Queen featured in the film, and the others are quickly taught the basic tropes, so they use those in an attempt to avoid being killed by the hulking Jason-like slayer. A really fun tribute to the genre starring Alia Shawkat, Adam DeVine, and Thomas Middleditch.
