Hunter B (br) wrote: A very different, manic, trippy, and overall depressing film about aging and the emptiness of the day-to-day.

Jennifer S (ag) wrote: If you've already seen 27 Dresses, then don't bother. The plot is the same minus the dresses. Same girl in love with someone she thinks is her match, selfish sibling, dead mother she honors and misses, obligatory wedding to be in, realizing in the end, her "love" is someone she didn't expect to be! Come on Hollywood...didn't you learn in school? Don't copy!

Bill B (es) wrote: A fairly average little thriller, it keeps you guessing as to what might be going on, though I kind of found Thomas Haden Church's stilted performance a little hard to get into, as he seems (understandably, we later learn) fairly confused for most of the running time of the film. This is somewhat forgivable due to later revelations, but it makes him a bit boring to watch, as he is our entry point into the world of the film.Rental.

sean o (jp) wrote: I don't really know where to begin, it's a hardcore arthouse movie about a man who thinks he's a woman trapped in a man's body and basically is just a running commentary of the thoughts that run through his (her?) head, beautifully and perfectly voiced by Jena Malone who if i'm being honest was the only reason i watched this till the end. One thing for sure is i don't think i could sit through this again, the film has a lot of difficult and surreal concepts to it and i'm sure it would offend many viewers, but if your someone with a very open mind you might find more qualities with the film then i did. Intresting experience but not for me.

David B (it) wrote: For a low-budget, it wasn't too bad. It didn't pretend to be anything that it wasn't, didn't try too hard - had to ignore some plots points, but there's some suspension of disbelief in all movies. What let it down was the atrocious acting, especially considering this has some seasoned TV and B-grade horror actors. Watch it is you have nothing better to do.

Chosen 7 (kr) wrote: Ok romance-drama about two crazy teens [one of them is literally crazy] who fall in love while one is in the Marine Corp. I must say that some of the dialogue between the two main characters was very weird but beautifully poetic in a way.Perhaps this film brought out the sappiness in me. Good performances by Jonathan Tucker, Rachel Leigh Cook [especially], Agnes Bruckner, Val Kilmer, Joe Mantegna, Ed Begley Jr., and Diane Venora. Overall it's somewhat entertaining and worth a watch despite it not being particularly good.

Patrick P (nl) wrote: This movie is essentially the baby of an obscene comedy mixed with jokes a teenager would find amusing. Though I was able to appreciate the movie's content, because when you think about it. . . There aren't many raunchy comedies featuring a female. It essentially turned what was going to be a romcom into something that's outrageous and entertaining regardless of gender. Though if you have a taste for "clean humor" and "wholesome values" then you should steer clear of this movie. . . With a title like "Dirty Love" it should be a given as to what this movie is about. The first word in the title states it clearly.

Jon C (de) wrote: the definitive horrific version of merging with social elitesthere's a good amount of suspense in this effects-heavy flickplenty of uncertainty, decrepidness of psychosis, and paranoid uneaseBrian Yuzna does pull out all the stops near the final scene and it shows how messed up and socially commentating it isthere's always one group of social class that feeds off of the lower half of humanity and how the less fortunate cant reap the benefits like everyone elseBilly's trapped in a state of mind that often plays tricks on him and not being able to explain this secret 'society' to everyone makes it that much more terrifyingsome bits of humor and horror although it doesn't come together quite successfully; the special effects are disgusting but top-notchYuzna's directorial debut is an unnerving piece of craftsmanship

Walter M (au) wrote: "Ceddo" starts with Princess Dior(Tabara N'Diaye) being kidnapped by a group of escaped slaves with the hope that they will not be forcibly converted to Islam. Meanwhile back at the village, instead of quick and resolute action to rescue her, there is debate now that the king(Makhouredia Gueye) has fallen under the sway of an Iman(Goure) and converted. The old rules no longer apply. So while Madir(Moustapha Yade) can marry Dior, he cannot succeed the king since Islam frowns upon matriarchy. He is so incensed that he renounces Islam and trades in a servant girl for a jug of wine which he consumes in front of everybody. "Ceddo" is an intelligent allegory from Ousmane Sembene about what it means to be truly free. The film is set in the colonial era of Senegal, when not only Islam was making inroads but also France, represented by the slave trade and a Catholic priest who simply watches while dreaming of future glory. All of this outside influence deeply divides the kingdom.(In Sembene's "Faat-Kine," there is peaceful coexistence between religions in modern day Senegal.) So, as the conflict continues on the home front, Dior's plight is occasionally forgotten in the process.

Kendall W (jp) wrote: Uber cheese-tastic, but cute nonetheless. Personally, I could have done with a little less of that young preteen girl, but whatever on that. Some enjoyable singing moments, although mostly not well-integrated into the general plot of the movie.
