Allan C (it) wrote: I'm not much of a fan of director Lucio Fulci, but this film is the first of his unofficial Gates of Hell trilogy, which was followed by what I consider Fulci's two only decent films, "The Beyond" and "The House by the Cemetery." While the title may lead you to believe this is a zombie film, it's not really. The story is more about a group of people trying to close the gates of hell after they've been opened, which brings the dead back to life. So there are zombies, but it's not really a zombie survival film along the lines of a Romero film or even Fulci's nearly watchable "Zombi 2." Average Fulci picture has his usual buckets of gore, but really offers nothing special and there are much better Italian horror alternative with similar stories and theme you could watch instead (i.e. "The Church," "Inferno," "Demons 1 or 2").

Private U (ru) wrote: Bronson seems more pissed off than any of his other flicks in this one. He forces a sleazy pimp to swallow a $25,000 watch, then lights his car on fire with hilarious results from the panicked pimp. There is also another hilariously bad scene where he fights a bunch of pornographers, and one literally roars at him before getting his leg grabbed mid-kick by Bronson and getting slammed through a dresser. In short, this is yet another campy 80s Bronson flick with equal doses of low-budget action and hilariously bad scenes. I recommend it.
