I was in the mood for a movie like this, and I'm glad this came along.I was never a fan of Joshua Jackson - not before Fringe anyway, and I've really grown to like him and enjoy him in films. The performances were in their entirety wonderful - the roles of Ruth and Ronald were familiar in a very warm way. Overall, a beautiful, simple, every day - but at the same time - unique story. Realistic and honest to a fault, with characters you care about. Nothing we haven't seen before, or a movie that's a must-see, but it's very pleasant nonetheless.

Excellent performances from Lou Diamond Phillips and a painfully emaciated Matt Damon. The battle scenes felt kinda cheesy (special effects wise) and Meg Ryan was terrible, just painful to watch as Capt. Walden. Still a great film, despite. 05.13 (2) "When a female soldiers (Meg Ryan) candidacy for the medal of honor is reviewed by a Lt Colonel (Denzel Washington), his quest reveals conflicting versions of the story from her crew."

The film itself is technically amazing because of its use of blue screen technology in inserting Woody and the cast into old footage and intercut them with re enacted scenes, which you hardly notice. I found myself trying to to dissect the film into "real" and "fake" parts but to no avail. The film contains a myriad of interesting themes that have kept me up at night after watching it. The mockumentary style allows for interesting "mechanics" such as fake interviews and my personal favourite, scenes from a film about the character, to be used, developing the narrative and the atmosphere. My favourite line in the movie is "The Fuhrer had a great joke about Poland planned". I'll leave it there. Watch it !!!!!

(br) wrote: Well, buoyed by very low expectations, I found this to be an enjoyable holiday movie. Not all warm and fuzzy- as it's mostly Arnold scrambling to get a specific toy, but some good characters with Sinbad & Hartman adding to the movie. The end got a little silly, but also added the warm/fuzzy of a holiday movie.

(au) wrote: A film by the dramatic G.W. Griffith that was so massive in 1920 - though now it is all but forgotton. Gish plays a young naive country girl who gets herself in a right mess with a dodgy philanderer. The print currently available is like many classic silent movies - crying out for restoration. The DVD available displays awful scratches and emulsion damage.
