Bill B (it) wrote: This was a really wild hair recording made via TiVo that I finally watched during a period of housecleaning with the device, and I honestly didn't know what to expect. Knowing me, I saw the title and assumed a horror film, where in actuality, I got a drama piece about people ruminating on their lost loves and the somewhat melancholy party that that they attend with friends. It was an okay flick, but I have zero interest in returning to it anytime in the near future, as there's just too many other films out there to pursue.Rental?

Allan C (us) wrote: Well crafted but overwrought western. A strength of director Anthony Mann's films is usually that they avoid the soapy melodrama that runs throughout this film. Still, Mann knows how to stage an action scene and develop well rounded characters. And Stanwick is her usual excellent self. Worth watching, but a lesser of Mann's many fine films.

Allan C (us) wrote: I've never been much of a Victor Mature fan and I feel my dislike for him may have dragged down my enjoyment level of an otherwise solid film noir. Mature is the manager of a murdered starlet and is being set up to take the fall. Betty Grable plays the sister of the victim and at first suspects Mature, but slowly begins to think he's innocent. The film was directed by H. Bruce Humberstone, who I've never heard of before, but he does a fine job of giving the film a moody, shadow filled look. I'll actually be interested in seeing some of his other work. Elisha Cook, Jr. provides one of his off kilter supporting roles. The film also repeatedly used "Over the Rainbow" as a reoccurring melody in the film's soundtrack, which seemed odd. So overall, this one isn't a classic, but it's well made and I enjoyed it despite my dislike of Victor Mature.

Chris B (ag) wrote: Scarface is an incredible film about the darker side of the American dream, about wanting excess stuff. Brian De Palma's take is incredible. Al Pacino performance is up their with the great gangster performances of all time. This film has a long run time but it goes by really quick especially the last hour. This is not only one of the most quoted movies of all time but truly a must see film.
