Winter Light

Winter Light

Master craftsman Ingmar Bergman explores the search for redemption in a meaningless existence. In this stark depiction of spiritual crisis, small-town pastor Tomas Ericsson performs his duties mechanically before a dwindling congregation. When he is asked to assist with a troubled parishioner’s debilitating fear of nuclear annihilation, Tomas is terrified to find that he can provide nothing but his own uncertainty.

Devon W (us) wrote: very odd, very disturbing, never really commits to any theme or tone entirely but somehow I don't regret watching it.

Katerina S (mx) wrote: The critics were too hard on this film. Very exciting and is better watching it the second time around. Worthwhile.

amanda g (gb) wrote: this movie was okay....i only saw it because of ellen page. i actually didn't even remember that i'd seen it until i looked at her filmography here. it was unmemorable.

Shouresh J (es) wrote: This was the first Zatoichi movie I saw, and still one of my favorites from the series. Definetly a good place to start if you're a fan of samurai films but aren't familiar with the Zatoichi series.

Eric P (es) wrote: Sentimental, well-acted, but manages to be both rushed and slow at the same time.

Margarita S (de) wrote: The beautiful score, stellar cast and artistically seamless scene transitions are what bring this movie to life. At times it's too 'literary' in its approach with dialogue and/or character interactions that are too strange or vague to seem believable. What won me over was how cleverly this complicated film was strung together.

Noah K (it) wrote: An indie comedy, as moving as it is funny.
