The story has plenty of stakes, while never getting overly heavy. The characters are all hilarious and strong, from the Passamaquoddy milkman all the way up to Pete himself, and the songs don't have a dud in the bunch. Whimsical and wonderful.

Al M (mx) wrote: A mostly stupid but also entertaining piece of self-conscious horror, Midnight Movie concerns the screening of an an ultra-rare exploitation film that supposedly contained real murders. The plot that plays out does not always make sense as it blends the supernatural together with the slasher in ways that are kind of just dumb. Still, the film is entertaining for those who are amenable to bad horror films. Watch John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns, Lamberto Bava's Demons, or Bigas Luna's Anguish for more sublime and intelligent variations on a similar plot.

Tsukasa A (ag) wrote: The Hollywood remake of the German movie 'Bella Martha' is more urbanized and stylish than the original one. Movies set at kitchens are great fun. They are like battle field during busy hours and exciting. I learned this from 'Dinner Rush' and 'Bella Martha'. Such scenes appear in 'No Reservations' too.Catherine performs very well as an established but sensitive Chef in the early part. However energies running through the film is greater. It's just like a difference between urbanized Italian foods and traditional Italian dishes. This does not necessarily mean that the remake is inferior to the original. It all depends on what audiences expect from the movies.
