Jeffrey N (us) wrote: Crazy Heart is a superbly acted movie that transcends the story. Any less of a performance by Jeff Bridges or Maggie Gyllenhaal would have made this a sub-par film. Story-wise it never connects with me. Not enough time is spent on specific emotional elements between Bad and Tommy, Bad and his son or even Bad and Jean. However, you can extract the pain from Jeff's performance alone. He was extremely worthy of his Best Actor Oscar. While I've seen him in a rugged role before, he takes a character that is clearly meant to exhibit a painful presence and, in spite of the strength of the story, makes you see and almost feel his pain.

Conmovedora e impactante en los relatos, pero absolutamente necesaria de ver.

Andy P (kr) wrote: Ebert wisely wrote of this film, "Its flaw is that it employs an Idiot Plot in a story that is too serious to support it." But, while he is willing to forgive it its flaw, I simply cannot. The film is really a mess of a plot that while the relationships within it work incredibly well, you can't help but bang a pillow to your head at what the plot is forcing them to do. In short, what the audience is left with are great characters and dynamics in search of a better movie.

Matthew M (br) wrote: On a technical level, I Am Cuba is easily one of the greatest films ever made. The film and the camera are more energetic than most movies I've ever seen, rivalling the camera work of the great Max Ophuls. Though I Am Cuba can be very heavy-handed throughout, this is nonetheless an amazing film that anybody interested in the craft should see at least once. The acting is consistently incredible, the cinematography is breathtaking, and the sheer filmmaking ability on display here is something that needs to be seen to be believed. The highlights are the incredible opening roof-top sequence, and the stories of the poor sugar cane farmer and the young Cuban revolutionaries. See this film immediately if you're interested. 9.5/10

Private U (ag) wrote: Although in later works, Borzage can get lost in a wandering sentimentality, he manages to rein that in in Street Angel. Perhaps it is because the story is about a street angel (i.e. a prostitute). It has a story that is incredibly moving (but you're not always sure why). I enjoy the organic quality of these type of films, which turn suddenly one way or another. Great performances, and a stunning climax. I love the scene at the docks. Sometimes directors do their best works with stories about a woman, (maybe it focuses them more?) Whatever the case, this is a great film, best to watch in a movie theater.

Jason R (ca) wrote: As far as filming goes most of the movie used an "up to date" camera to film. But some scenes look like they used a B rated film camera. Very poor quality.

Ying P (au) wrote: heartwarming movie... I'm a dog lover... and i know my dog was wait for me all the time when i go to school. When i reached home, i could saw its hapiness and excited. Could you imagine when a dog was waited for its owner but its owner was passed away already, what would the dog feel? sad and keep waiting? it was so pity... the loyalty of a dog won't have to be undeniable. Sorry for my grammar mistake and bad english... This was a amazing movie!!!
