WS W (kr) wrote: It has the flaws every other small budget indie film had. Pleasant acting by the two leading actresses though.

Jean G (es) wrote: Mostly revolves about the nature of the media and the politics it communicates, but also about the compromises that are made between idealism and power.

Brad G (ca) wrote: From the director of Krull (!!!) comes this romantic borderline screwball comedy starring James Spader as a book publisher haunted by the ghosts of Michael Caine and Maggie Smith. Spader shows signs of Alan Shore perfection and I find myself yearning for more lighter fare from Jimmy boy, he??s a damn good romantic lead. Michael Caine and Maggie Smith are great but they??re British and they know what they??re doin??. If you??re looking for somethin?? to make ya feel warm and fuzzy inside than this flick is just what the doctored ordered. VF.

James O (us) wrote: At long last, I have finally seen the 1975 Doc Savage movie! As an avid reader of the books by Kenneth Robeson, I went in expecting almost exactly what I got: A fun, rollercoaster ride of a movie. Although there are a few minor flaws and some hopelessly cheesy dialogue, this movie is fantastic! Flaws: The Crime College does not appear until later Doc books. Doc cannot "sense" his friend's feelings when they're in New York and he's in the Arctic. The green snakes are in "The Mystic Mullah", not "The Man of Bronze". I do not recall Captain Seas being in ANY Doc book. Habeas Corpus did not appear until "The Phantom City", the 12ft Doc Savage book. As soon as they are out of danger, Monk and Ham immediately stop being nice to each other, but here they are nice after the danger is over, and HAM PICKS UP HABEAS CORPUS! Our favorite lawyer would rather die than EVER do that. Cheesy dialogue: Monk: "Have no fear! Doc Savage is here!" Good things: The amazing John Phillip Sousa music! The Fabulous Five are perfectly cast! The great action scenes! The believable and cool gadgets! Ron Ely plays Doc Savage awesomely (he could use a little more muscle power, though). Overall, a fantastic movie with a great, open ending. It makes me SOOOOOO angry that they never made a sequel! It had such great build-up at the end!!!!!!!

Edgar C (es) wrote: "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." (1 Corinthians 13:12)First part of the auteur's trilogy dealing with man's relationship with God. The sickness and the spider symbolizing our incapacity to relate with God appear as key elements for the first time. Bergman is one of the few directors that perfectly knew how to transform the landscapes into a character that speaks the unknown, in this case the sea. Isolation and confusion abound in that who is drunk and blinded by false hopes and equally false religions. A shocking conclusion that only a few will get the first time (unless they watch Nattvardsgsterna [1961] immediately after) is the perfect seal for Bergman's religious statements.Funnily, this won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1962. Perhaps they were just amazed without understanding squat."He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." (1 John 4:8)96/100

Ben V (br) wrote: Well acted and quite full on. So the plot pretty much a home for troubled teens, a girl gets bullied because she's indifferent murdered by her bullies made to look like a suicide, comes back as an evil spirit to take revenge and kill her murderers, and she is the evil one. Personally I was cheering her on, because maybe wrong but I would of done the same!
