The plot follows the titular gang of misfits, gathered together by Chen Kuan Tai (a real life martial arts champion who starred in many films for the studio) in order to protect a patriotic general from a scheming usurper. To this end, the unlikely heroes act as the general’s escorts on a dangerous journey to a distant British consulate, beset by enemies and sinister Japanese interference along the way. . Elaine B (nl) wrote: I decided to write this review because the few reviews I did read were generally negative. Those reviewers missed the entire point of the story. It is a story about good, decent people who end up together because of the curves life throws at all of us and they form a family unit of sorts. They care about each other. They are kind to one another. They make sacrifices for one another. I wish there were more movies about people who treat each other like this. The negative reviews had to do with race and racial biases and prejudices. The critics' prejudices. To me it was a story about people- people who cared about one another and ended up loving one another the way most of us can only hope to be loved. It was a wonderful movie and one of the few I would like to add to my library.

Kelly C (ca) wrote: Silly yet highly entertaining with performances by Patrick Stewart and Vincent Kartheiser. I enjoyed seeing Stewart as a villian. The film plot is a little far-fetched but the characters's fun attitudes get ya through it. A fun film for younger viewers.
Luis Diego R (au) wrote: Yeah it isn't the best quality film, loaded with sexually explicit and disturbing scenes, but it is an original underground film. My first Bruce La Bruce film, and it was enjoyable the most of it. A movie no one will forget ever in his or her life.

Brandon C (ca) wrote: This film is one of those films that is stupid that it demands to be watched, but you enjoy it because it is campy and corny and still has a relatable story in a way.
Sharice H (jp) wrote: Every shot radiates a dysfunctional family crossing onto the edge of "normal" and back.
Allan C (au) wrote: I was probably not this film's target audience, but decided to watch because I do like Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. However, this film was basically "Now and Again" except the girls are witches. I probably would have liked the film if it were sillier and less dramatic and angst ridden. A good cast (Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Aidan Quinn, Evan Rachel Wood and Chloe Webb) is wasted on a boring and at times annoying script.
Ben T (kr) wrote: A film where acting god Robert De Niro shoves his penis in Zac Efron's face. That's all you really need to know as it sums up the quality of the film. Admittedly there are a couple of laughs and Efron is good but it's a tired and cliched film that has little merits. It also contains one of De Niro's worst performances. D+
