Simon G (br) wrote: Its no accident that the words "In Memory of JOHN HUGHES" adorn the post-movie credits of Anthony Burns' directional debut. The writer/director obviously has a lot of love for the late director but Skateland ends up being less The Breakfast Club, or even St. Elmo's Fire and more Dazed and Confused meets Take Me Home Tonight with a little Whip It thrown in. There is nothing new here but the excellent performances mixed with the sweet naivety of a time which is heaped with nostalgia makes for an affecting little 80s teen drama with an unexpected emotional depth.

The two women are enchanting and sexy in two completely different ways. The tension-teasing-attraction between bad boy Sinbad and Eris can be sensed fromSinbad: This has to be a little embarrassing for you, Eris.Eris: Don't push your luck. You're cute. But not that cute.A little hidden uneducational fun, Rat: It just ends, Captain! It's the edge of the world!Gin: Pay up, it's flat.

Tom C (us) wrote: Wow, no reviews? This movie is amusingly bad. It's just awful. A group of soldiers jump wait high into a lake, guns and all, only to look lost while they wait for a boat. Then they go and shoot up a base for no obvious reason, and most of their guns don't even make any sounds. Men catch fire for no reason. Houses explode from machine gun fire. Simply, wonderfully, terrible.

Nicolas A (it) wrote: Federico Fellini did it again, with this superb masterpiece of one of my favorite subjects. Also his second movie of his trilogy of redemption, after La strada and before Nights of Cabiria. Directing: A marvelous masterpiece of Fellini, who made another classic with his great directing style. There's not really much to say about it because it was all nearly perfect. Acting: Broderick Crawford had probaly the best performance in this movie as the aging con-man Augusto. But i did expected more of actress Giuletta Masina. The rest of the acting cast where all very good to.
