Geir F (it) wrote: Kitano's final entry in his introspective trilogy may be the best of the series, if only because it mostly works much better as a simple narrative than the other two movies (Takeshis' and Kantoku banzai!) do. But he's still more interested in skewering ideas - in this case, the world of art - than engaging us emotionally here, and it's hard to become invested in the characters. Still, it's a gorgeous-looking movie, and often funny in a tragic way. No Kitano fan will want to miss this. Let's hope for something with a stronger narrative drive next time, though!

Sujit O (de) wrote: The Russian ark is a movie which gives its highest level of precedence to the visual style of the movie. A movie which is completed in just 1 extremely long steadicam shot shows impeccable team work between a huge group of actors and a small crew constantly moving around a museum for a good 1 and a half hours.Personally being a huge fan of the long shots, I was incredibly impressed with how the compositions were continually maintained without having a lot of dead screen time. However this historically inclined movie could get a little draggy due to the lesser number of subplots and movie like experience. Its a very different movie experience for someone interested.
