Kim B (ca) wrote: A dark horror comedy about the banalities and absurdities of living in suburbia. Everyone growing up always has that creepy house with creepy neighbors on the block who u make up stories about. A funny mystery of discovering what those neighbors r really doing inside. The plot isnt much but some great cameos n the film isnt to be taken seriously. Tom hanks is delightful as usual.

That finale where the clues are put together keeps you glued to the screen with every new beat. This is a pinnacle in detective films and I wish every film had this brilliance, who get swept up in the story that you forget to find the clues yourself.

And while it may be used again and again (most recently for the TV show, "SMASH"), it never fails to disappoint. Plus, I know that minimalist sets may be "in" right now, but being able to see a train car split apart, the New York skyline appear out of nowhere, or a bunch of spinning chorus members from above really can't be beat.
