Scott W (gb) wrote: There's a lot to like here, starting with the performances from Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. The flashbacks to Philomena in the abbey are heart-wrenching. As the story builds, you really buy in to wanting to know if she is going to find her son. Structurally, I have some issues with this movie. Once Philomena finds out the truth about her son, it feels like the story has nowhere to go. What comes after that is not as exciting or emotional as what came before it. That being said, it's definitely a memorable movie and deserved its Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Andrew L (gb) wrote: A good twist at the end, but other than that this film didn't do much for it's predecessor, or for the character 'Jigsaw' for that matter, totally turning his 'philosophy' backwards and contradicting himself nearly all the way through. Ultimately he is a psycho who enjoys killing, not the 'life-appreciation-teacher' he makes himself out to be. His choice in victims and his reasoning more than support this argument. There are only a few recent 'horror/thrillers' that deserve attention, and 'Saw' was one of them. Unfortunately though it's fallen victim to the Hollywood system and spawned three 'for-the-sake-of-making-them' sequels, thinking that gore and predictable set-pieces make up for lacklustre storytelling.

Heather M (gb) wrote: It was cute. But someone needs to teach British people about subtlety and how to keep a movie entertaining without relying on candy colors and cheesy music. Mary Poppins worked because while you saw her magic, at the end of the scene, it could have just been an illusion.
