Omnipresent Bollywood acting dynamo Sunny Deol stars as Deva, the son of an honest lawyer (Anupam Kher) who lives with his brother, Aakash (Sachin Khedekar), and his beloved sister, Guddi (Richa Behl). Imprisoned after a man touches Guddi and sets off his violent, jealous rage, Deva falls into a life of crime, quickly rising to the top of the city's criminal underworld--much to the chagrin of the other crime bosses, who plot his murder. Their attempt to frame him for the murder of an important Minister doesn't go as planned, and Deva suddenly finds himself on the run, with the minister as a hostage, and his brother and sister murdered.

Celebrated documentary filmmaker Nonny de la Pea (??Mama/M.A.M.A.?? & ??The Jaundiced Eye??) turns her attention to the widespread abuse of civil liberties carried out following the 9/11 attacks under the auspices of the hastily rushed through USA PATRIOT Act in the final volume of the ??Un-trilogy?? from Exec. Producer Robert Greenwald. The film kicks off with a quick prologue detailing how the controversial bill was rushed through congress read by few if any of those voting on it before going on to examine the effects through the personal stories of U.S. Olympic rower Aquil Abdullah, North Carolina college student A.J. Brown and Syrian exile Safouh Hamoui.ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero heads up the line-up of esteemed talking heads including David Lindorff, Barbara Olshansky and Vincent Cannistraro, who are on hand to provide expert commentary, but it??s the personal accounts of A.J. Brown, Andrew O??Connor, Azmat Begg, Aquil Abdullah and the heroic Hamoui Family which shine through. The established filmmaker expertly enlivens an admittedly somewhat stodgy talking-heads style documentary film with some slightly editorialised personal stories which bring the entire production to life and give it a purpose beyond merely documenting the administration??s repeated violations of the constitution.??I am here for the freedom.??

Nicki M (au) wrote: I don't think I "got" this. I do like to watch a good Australian movie, but, to me, this isn't one of them. Stupid random little pieces of life in a share house. Unconvincing characters and acting (even though some of this cast are good and have liked them in better movies). It seems I am in the minority here as a lot of people seemed to like this, but I just found it stupid. And I generally prefer art house films, so that shows how much I think this one sucked.

Personally I liked it a lot although I suppose there will be folks who feel hit over the head with characters with lives very different from their own. The girls struggle to accept and cope with her own madness by supporting her friend in his own self acceptance is very touching and the movie managed to find a lot of humor in drag queens without ever mocking or belittling them. Not to mention a great happy ending, which you might not expect in this movie.
Renato L (us) wrote: Boring crap. I don't see what could be appealing in this movie in 2009, apart from the historical value. And Margarete Robsahm, obviously. The plot is quite ridiculous, acting is bad, dialogues and effects are below average. And on top of it all you have the shameful killing of a real snake, an act presented in the movie as the proof of some whacky metaphysical theory.
Emily S (it) wrote: Cheesiness aside, I thought that it was a beautiful, emotional movie. The acting could've been stronger, and the overall plot was fairly predictable but I would recommend it as a good family movie.
