Brandon S (ru) wrote: A brilliant film that shows perspectives interwoven with true events. It's less about facts, and more about human beings and what happens to them in circumstances beyond their control, especially those that they're trying to control. This is a masterpiece of naturalism, and a work of mad genius by a stupendously talented filmmaker, and a revolutionary: Ms. Kathryn Bigelow.

Jennifer S (es) wrote: This film is amazing and funny. You should watch it guys! I loved the parts at dinner where they were praying and also the choir practice. The movie overall is a good family film. Kids would love it too.

Jonny L (mx) wrote: Every American should watch this movie.... explores and makes a great case for the financial meltdown as a result of culture -- not capitalism!

David C (nl) wrote: I'm not sure what to make of this mess. On the one hand, it wants to pay tribute to the tv series. It keeps most of the same characters and story elements. On the other hand, it wants to tell a 12 hour story in 90 minutes, so it cuts corners and reinvents things on the fly. Some of it works, most of it doesn't. In a lot of way, it ended feeling like Evangelion, with it's abstract cut aways, and flashbacks and flash forwards. Don't get me wrong though, there is some really cool stuff here: the animation is stellar, the score and music is unbelievable (I already bought a copy), and in many ways it's like watching your favorite show injected with a bigger, better budget. But I missed the heart found in the series. The love here seems forced and there aren't really any truthful moments to get swept away in here. In the end, I was pretty disappointed.

Carol H (de) wrote: Gwyneth Paltrow said in an interview that this was one of those movies she only made because she needed the money. And it's easy to see why. "View from the Top" is fluffy, juvenile, and trite.

John D (jp) wrote: Not bad. I bet Bill Gates hated it.

Ryan D (kr) wrote: I enjoyed "K2" quite a bit. There were a few things here and there that I didn't like, but there wasn't much. Some other people on this site would have you believe that the story is horrible. I feel quite the opposite. Ok, it's not a major "thinking" movie, and the plot is fairly simple, but that's what I like about movies of this nature. I don't want to go into a mountain climbing movie and have to be thinking about the story and be overly complex. I just want to see some great scenery and climbing followed by a story that shows the courage and heart that goes into climbing mountains of this size, and that is exactly what I got. The film has plenty of that to keep you entertained, and the story isn't nearly as bad as some other people claim it is.

Lee P (ag) wrote: Can't overstate the political effect this had on me as a kid. Also a great storyline, a pretty good theme song, and ... mmm ... let's say, a variety of acting talent. as maverick filmmaking, though, not much competes with it. Laughlin made it and distributed it himself, literally taking reels to theatres.
