Jenna I (ru) wrote: The first half of this drags beyond belief because there's zero character development and too many extended bar fights and bland things. The world is interesting but not -that- interesting that you care about it without close ups on the characters or robots. However, the last half hour of this movie is total fire. Once it turns into a slow chase stalker film suddenly I found myself jumping in my seat and cringing at all of the melting going on. If only the rest of the movie had such purpose and direction......All in all, good concept, mostly bland movie, leaves more questions than it answers.

The idea of the story is going to guarantee barrels of laughter. Two escaped convicts disguised as gay pageant trainers for little girls. One has to woo his dream girl while keeping up his 'gay' identity and pretending to date a gay sheriff (William H. Macy!!). The other, a roughneck, has to teach little girls how to catwalk, dance and even sew costumes for them. Along the way, they want to rob a bank too. It is very entertaining but formulaic. After the first half of laughing silly, the second part becomes a tad dull and predictable. Kind of a waste of a good story.Rating: B
Peter H (fr) wrote: The HBO Animated Series is so much better than this movie, its got better characterization, better dialogue, the plot has more room to flesh out etc. Its hard to take the idea that Al Simmons only kills the scum of the earth when he nonchalantly walks into an air traffic control tower and kills everybody there before blowing up a jet plane, a limousine entourage, and a bunch of innocent bystanders, before resigning a few scenes later, and being righteously indignant about killing so many people. Then there was the scene where Al's old boss Jason Wynn who had him killed, has a device implanted in his body that will cause the extinction of humanity by releasing a bioengineered virus if his heart ever stops beating. This was said nearly word for word by the surgeon doing the operation who then adds nobody is gonna want to kill you sir. Sheesh! What a dumb fuck! This guy couldnt be more wrong! Malbogia and The Violator tricked Wynn into making this virus, and then having the doomsday pacemaker implanted so that when SPAWN took his revenge he would flood HELL with all the doomed souls they could ever wantWhy would anybody want to put the fate of the entire world in one man's hands? This idea is wrong and fucking stupid on so many levels. For one thing this douchebag could die of natural causes and doom the rest of the world, for another thing since you have to tell your enemies that your holding the world hostage so they wont kill you, what's stopping them from spilling the beans so that you're locked away for the rest of your life? Also the scene where Spawn kills Priest the female assassin was so stupidly cliche, especially since she told him "You dont have the guts!" Before he shot her, yeah that's original. Here's what I liked about the movie, I liked John Leguizamo's portrayal of the demon The Violator. His scenery chewing kept the movie interesting & watchable. One of my favorite scenes was where Malbogia pulled him into Hell and The Violator was bitching about how he should have been chosen to lead Malbogia's army. Malbogia picks him up by the scruff of his neck and The Violator says "And this is exactly the kind of talk you dont tolerate, right boss?" The fight between SPAWN and THE VIOLATOR was well done, and I also loved the end where THE VIOLATOR is about to rip SPAWN'S head off and Spawn saws The Violator's head off with his chains. Being a demon this doesn't kill The Violator right away like it would most normal living creatures, before melting back into Hell The Violator has time to threaten SPAWN and even ask Wanda for some head.

Private U (kr) wrote: I'm not going to lie...it started out interesting. But then it got really boring. Plus nothing happened in this movie! It was basically Frankie Avalon, a hippie, Groucho Marx, a hot teenager, and a black chick that looks like Beyonce hanging out on a boat while Jackie Gleason, Austin Pendleton, a rapist and Mickey Rooney hang out in jail...Seinfeld was definately inspired by this and I don't mean that in a good way.

Lee B (au) wrote: The cold war era, so many little movies around such, supposed paranoid subjects. This was one of the good ones because it doesn't play it as plain good guy-bad guy.But the mystery still comes up pretty flimsy. Aside from that, it's a pretty good movie. I like the conflicted William Hurt character and Dennehy's US Joe. Marvin was probably a stretch but, why not - it's Lee Marvin! More so, is there ever a time when a movie with a Russian setting doesn't look like a nuclear winter?

Steve P (es) wrote: BLINKY BILL THE MOVIE is a delightful story that preserves the beautiful simplicity of older animations but is right up to date in terms of its glossiness. The colour palette is gorgeous and the animals are highly detailed - right down to their fur and feathers. The humour is very Australian - but would still work for international audiences. The story is well paced, full of quirky characters, foot-tapping music, and lots of action. The voices are provided by the likes of Toni Colette and David Denham. Great fun - take your kids to see it! It's a very family friendly movie.
