Alex A (it) wrote: It's better than Take Shelter, but not as great as Mud. Shotgun Stories (Jeff Nichols's directorial dbut) is a smart and mature depiction of a family's blood feud. Michael Shannon delivers a strong leading performance; and although the films not a masterpiece, it's still quality filmmakng in it's own right.

Ken T (ag) wrote: Very good Academy Award nominated film about the last days of the Israeli occupation of a fort in southern Lebanon in 2000 - the fort having been occupied since 1982. With Hezbollah shelling the fort frequently, the soldiers are anxious to leave. After one particular incident, one soldier begins to question the occupation. This soldier is Koris - a brave, but questioning man - and butts heads with Liraz, the leader who appears tough, but is on the inside a trembling man. This is an often tense, very human portrait of war depicting their mostly dull daily activities (even the shelling is reported in a monotone manner) with the sudden and rapid impact of violence.

Esther L (ag) wrote: A special one that I watched with my little girl when she was in Year 3 (8 years old) after reading the book together. In her words, the characters who won the tickets to the factory all have different personalities but Charlie is very different from the rest. He was very kind and well rewarded for not being greedy!

Vince K (ru) wrote: Poorly shot movie about '60s Yippie Left-Wing activist Abby Hoffman, who I never heard of until this film came out. I really hate "historical" movies, and thought all the protesting that results in being beaten up by police is retarded. Abbie Hoffman didn't really accomplish anything. Well, wait, that's not true, he did accomplish something at the end of the movie but I was so bored by that time I wasn't really paying attention. I truely hate movies about politics, or the past. Loved Milk though. But this movie is no Milk.

Petros T (ca) wrote: One of a kind: a suspenseful thriller with French finesse, thanks to a gorgeously photographed succession of excellent, violent action and charming, peaceful scenes depicting the gradually built relationship of the characters. Often Mathilda doesn't sound like 12 but Portman manages to pull it off admirably. The resolution is very well-thought and the finale, brimming with tension, emerges as truly moving yet not melodramatic. Without noticing 2 hours flew and you grew really close to those two.

Chris B (us) wrote: Everything in this 16th Zatoichi outing is ramped up; the blood, the loss of limbs, and even the dialogue and political overtones in the film. Apparently this is the first film where Katsu's company started taking control of the series and the film is a blast to watch! The action and set pieces are action packed and violent and the dialogue, with it's political overtones and darker tones, is right on point. Another fine film in the Zatoichi saga and one where we once again see the strain laid upon Ichi in his lifestyle and standing up for those that need the help.

Wes S (ag) wrote: Entertaining and the plot is rather interesting. It has a nice cast and fun characters and a decent ending. Bela Lugosi is pretty good in this one and is a great villain.
